RESOURCES: EVENTS

We enjoy partnering with other on-site practitioners and neighboring businesses to create various events for clients and for the wider community.  Participating in downtown activities, such as First Friday Art Walk and the Parade of Lights is a wonderful aspect of being located right on Main Street!  See below to find out what is currently happening!

For many people, Middle School can be a demanding time.  Dealing with social pressures, keeping up with school assignments, navigating friend groups, and expressing your individuality are just a few of the challenges Middle Schoolers face. It is not uncommon to experience anxiety as a result. Join us for a 6-week group that can help you connect to yourself in the midst of anxiety and connect to others having similar experiences.  Find support as you discover new ways to ease stress.

Group members will participate in art projects both individually and as a group that are designed to help alleviate anxiety. By using artistic expression as a medium by which to both cultivate mindfulness and explore one’s creativity, and connection to self, the group leaders will guide the participants in integrating tools to help them face the challenges they are experiencing. With the added component of peer socialization that comes with going through this process as part of a group, members will support each other on our collective journey.

About the Facilitators:

Lillie Wacaster

For her whole life Lillie has been drawn to creativity, with passion for all kinds of art, crafts, and writing. As a teenager, she became interested in the idea of becoming a therapist stemming from a deep care for others and the desire to make a difference in the world one person at a time. She began to pursue art therapy as a senior in high school and has pursued that goal ever since, studying art and psychology in her undergraduate program at Harding University. After graduating college in 2018, she spent two years as a Montessori preschool teacher where she cultivated patience, kindness, and working with emotions.

Lillie will be receiving a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Transpersonal Art Therapy at Naropa University. Her focus in therapy is on the relationship between art, mental health, mindfulness, and each of our connections to humanity and spirituality. She offers client-centered talk, play, art, and mindfulness therapy services to middle through high school students.

Alex Zobel

Before becoming a therapist, Alex Zobel was a professional musician and guitar teacher. He has a background in music composition, journalism, creative arts, psychology and psychotherapy. He is completing his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. Alex uses an eclectic approach in therapy, incorporating Synergetic Play Therapy, Gestalt therapy, somatic awareness and a Jungian lens among other modalities.

Alex works with people of all ages and backgrounds and values creating a space where clients can be their authentic selves as they grow and integrate. His style of therapy is based on how effectively he can attune to the client and support their process of regulation and development.

As Master’s Candidates, Lillie and Alex receive supervision from licensed therapists including Christy Lochary and other therapists at Louisville Family Center as well as from their respective schools.
